Overview

Tonight12 (“we”, “the app”) helps you pick something to watch tonight. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how you can control it.

Tonight12 is in early use (dogfood). The operator is a small team, not a large platform.

Information we collect

Account (optional): If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier, email address, and basic profile fields Google shares (such as name and profile picture). Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth; we do not receive your Google password.

Preferences: Region, language, theme, streaming services, genres, runtime, content types, and related settings you save in Preferences or on your shortlist.

Engagement: Titles you hide or mark as loved; Watch clicks (title, provider, time); optional follow-up feedback (watched yes/no/partly, sentiment, or skip reasons); dismissals when you close a check-in.

Product feedback: Free-text notes you submit from Preferences → Feedback when signed in.

Device / browser (guests): Filter choices and similar settings may be stored in your browser (localStorage) until you sign in. Shortlist session state may use sessionStorage for the current tab.

Technical logs: Our host (Vercel) and database provider (Supabase) may process standard server logs (IP address, request metadata) for security and reliability. We do not run a separate analytics product in the app today.

How we use information

To sign you in and keep your session secure.

To remember your preferences and build your tonight shortlist.

To improve recommendations and product decisions (including reading feedback you send).

To operate and protect the service (debugging, abuse prevention, backups).

We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers

We use third-party services that process data on our behalf:

Google — Sign in with Google (OAuth).

Supabase — Authentication, database, and row-level security for your account data.

Vercel — Application hosting.

TMDB — Movie and TV metadata and images (see footer attribution). We send TMDB-related requests from our servers, not your Google account.

Resend (optional) — If configured, product feedback may trigger an email notification to the operator; the message is also stored in our database.

Retention

Signed-in data is kept while your account exists so the app can restore your preferences and history.

If you want account data removed, contact us (see below). We will delete or anonymize what we reasonably can in Supabase, subject to backup retention windows.

Your choices

You can use Tonight12 without signing in; some features (synced prefs, hide/love, watch feedback) require an account.

You can sign out from Preferences. Clearing site data in your browser removes local guest storage.

You can revoke Google’s access to Tonight12 from your Google Account security settings.

Cookies and storage

We use cookies and similar storage for authentication sessions (HttpOnly cookies via Supabase), theme preference, OAuth return paths, and local filter state as described above.

Children

Tonight12 is not directed at children under 13. The app includes a “kids safe” filter for catalog mood; it is not a parental control product.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product grows. We will change the “Last updated” date when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
